RAF At Goodspeed
We are proud to partner with the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF). Raf has been instrumental in preserving our historic riverfront airport and enhancing our visitor experience with new camping facilities and amenities.
What is RAF?
The Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF) is a national nonprofit dedicated to preserving, improving, and creating airstrips that provide recreational pilots with public access to unique destinations. Their mission is simple but vital: ensure that pilots today—and generations to come—can experience aviation beyond paved runways and busy terminals.
Through partnerships with local communities, pilot groups, and public agencies, the RAF works to protect special places where aviation, outdoor recreation, and responsible land use intersect.

How RAF Saved Goodspeed
In 2020, Goodspeed Airport faced the very real possibility of closure. Without outside support and a clear path forward, this unique air strip—one of the most special flying destinations in New England—could have been lost forever.
That's where the RAF stepped in.

RAF provided funds toward the airport’s down payment, leveraging the efforts of a dedicated local group and making an outright purchase possible. This financial support helped secure the airport when it mattered most.

Without RAF’s involvement, Goodspeed probably wouldn’t be here today.
